BLACKBURN Rovers earned a hard-fought point at West Ham United this afternoon but will know it could have been so much better.
After a tight first half, it was the visitors who created all the best second half chances but were left to settle for an away day point.
Jason Roberts squandered a golden chance to give Rovers the win on 75 when, after muscling James Tomkins off the ball, he hit the ball straight at Robert Green from inside the area.
Just before that Martin Olsson's powerful drive was tipped over the bar by Green, while Mark Noble appeared to handle Gael Givet's scuffed shot on the line before Carlton Cole completed the clearance.
At the other end, Paul Robinson brilliantly tipped Alessandro Diamanti's free-kick over the bar as a dull game came to the life in the closing 20 minutes.
Morten Gamst Pedersen came closest for Rovers in the first half, firing a 20-yard free-kick against the cross bar just minutes from the break.
West Ham controlled most of the opening 45 minutes but were unable to really test Paul Robinson, with Alessandro's Diamanti's inswinging free kick that was punched away the nearest they came to an opener.
