BLackburn Rovers Under 18s swept into the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals at Ewood Park last night with an impressive 3-0 win over Manchester United.
Midfielder Jason Lowe scored a goal in each half, while central defender Grant Hanley was also on target to set up a last-eight home showdown against either Everton or Preston.
Lowe opened the scoring on 38 minutes when a Michael Potts’ right-wing corner was volleyed home by the midfielder at the far post.
The visitors started the second half strongly but the win was secured when Hanley headed home from close range at the second attempt from a Potts’ accurate free-kick.
The gloss was put on the victory in the dying seconds when Lowe smartly followed up to head home after a Tom Hitchock penalty was saved.
