BURNLEY's attempt to win their first away game of the season last night was compounded by injuries to Chris McCann and Graham Alexander early in the first half.
Manager Brian Laws revealed McCann had twisted his knee and Alexander could be out for a number of weeks with a pulled calf muscle, while Michael Duff also suffered a shoulder injury.
Laws said: "This was the kind of game where it was a case for us not to lose and when you lose two players in the first 15 minutes you wonder what you’ve done to deserve that.
“The players are obviously suffering because of it.
“There are some tired bodies out there.
"They need help and support, and that’s what I’ll do.
“We’re in here to support them and if we can do that with bringing in a couple of new faces by the end of the week that will help the team tremendously and it will give them a lift as well.
“That’s our plan, certainly in the near future, but more importantly we’ve got to pick the players up because we know this (the Premier League) is a fantastic place to be and we’ve got to work hard to stay in it.”
And Laws conceded that Burnley’s double injury blow was a key turning points in the game.
“When that’s thrown at us in the first 15 minutes your gameplan goes out of the window,” he said.
“We end up on Plan C, D and E. Two injuries in the first 15 minutes did knock the stuffing out of us to be fair and we had to reorganise at half-time.
“It was difficult for us to have any continuity in the game, but we stayed resolute, we stayed tight.
The disappointing thing is we’ve helped them with the goal and that was our downfall.
“We said we needed to defend better away from home. I thought as a team we dealt well with their aerial threat, particularly with long throws and corners, but at the end of the day you’ve got to take your chances.
“We had a couple of half chances in the first half.”
Laws added: “It’s been a tough baptism since we’ve been here.
“Our first seven games are five away and two at home, and one of them’s Chelsea on Saturday.
“We can’t sulk about it or worry about it, we’ve got to go onto the next game, and there’s another great game around the corner.”
