OWEN Coyle pushed Burnley into the Premier League relegation zone as his new club Bolton claimed a 1-0 win over the Clarets last night - and the Scot then hit back at the Burnley fans who shouted ‘Judas’ throughout the game.
Lee Chung-Yong’s first half goal was the difference between the sides at the Reebok Stadium as Burnley slipped below Bolton to 18th place in the table.
Coyle was given a hostile reception from the 5,000 travelling Burnley fans, just three weeks after opting to leave Turf Moor and join Bolton, but was upset that many chose to label him as a Judas.
“If they were going to get biblical it should probably have been Moses, because I was the one who led them from the wilderness,” said Coyle.
“But until my dying day, I wish the club nothing but the best.
“This was more emotional than any other game I have been involved in. I left a unique club and know the passion that surrounds the place.
”Burnley are special and I will always hold them in the highest esteem.
"The only person who knows the full story is me and I maintain I conducted myself properly.”
