READING have carved out the most chances in the opening 45 minutes, but without posing a real threat to Clarets goalkeeper Brian Jensen.
Grzegorz Rasiak has been at the heart of the Royals' forward play but has been restricted to half chances in the main, and had penalty appeals waved away when he went down cheaply under pressure from Tyrone Mears as the pair battled to get on the end of Jobi McAnuff's diagonal ball into the box.
Lively winger Gylfi Sigurdsson has had a couple of sights of goal too, but after firing straight at Jensen midway through the first half, he went on to blaze over from the edge of the box.
Burnley have popped the ball around neatly in possession, but are lacking an end product in the final third.
Their best came on the stroke of half-time, when Chris Eagles' ambitious overhead kick from Wade Elliott's centre dropped wide.
