"I think I will stay five years, 10 years - I don't know. I love it here and love the fans.

"I am enjoying playing English football. It is very beautiful. With every game I play, I feel more comfortable. I hope to continue playing football in England for a long time."

Italian coach Nevio Scala has revealed he has applied for the Scotland job.

The former Parma and Borussia Dortmund boss, 62, was on the Scottish Football Association's shortlist to succeed Craig Brown before Berti Vogts took charge in 2002 and was also in the frame when George Burley was appointed last year.

"I have made my interest known to the Scottish FA,” said Scala who is currently working as a radio pundit in Italy after being sacked by Spartak Moscow. “I have always had a great respect for Scottish football and have an affinity for the country.

"I would want to have a Scottish coach working beside me and I believe I could do a good job.

"I've every confidence in my own ability and I am still hungry to be a successful coach. Why not with Scotland?”
