Blackburn Rovers and Burnley have been revealed as two of the cheapest football teams in the Premier League to support in a new survey.

The figures from the Liberal Democrats showed that Blackburn Rovers had the cheapest match tickets in the country this season, with prices starting at £7 compared to an average of £21, for each stadium’s lowest priced seat.

Burnley came out favourably on the cost of a pint at £2.70 in the survey compared to an average of well over £3.

This season has seen bosses at Rovers cut the cost of match tickets at Ewood Park every week.

The survey showed that football clubs are charging as much as £92 for match day tickets (Arsenal) and up to £3.80 for a pint (Chelsea).

Lib Dem Shadow Culture, Media and Sport Secretary, Don Foster said: “These figures show that many Premier League clubs are a long way from ending their love affair with money.

“Not only do fans have to pay sky high prices for tickets, but if they want to enjoy a pint of lager they can end up paying way over the odds.

"Add this to the high price for team merchandise, and the bill begins to look very steep.

"Clubs must not continue to take advantage of the goodwill of their dedicated followers, particularly in this time of economic recession.”
