ACCRINGTON Stanley triumphed at the Pirelli Stadium thanks to goals from strike duo Billy Kee and Michael Symes.

Stanley had made a slow start but they came close when Phil Edwards’ header from a Luke Joyce corner was saved by Shane Redmond.

The Reds then thought they had a shout for a penalty when Kee played in McCon-ville, but the referee instead showed the 20-year-old a yellow card for simulation – taking him to four bookings for the season along with Joyce, Darran Kempson and Symes.

Stanley’s influence was growing and Joyce – back in the centre after a position swap saw McConville move to the right and Andy Procter switch to the left - saw a shot saved, but Shaun Harrad blazed a shot over at the other end.

McConville was then denied his first Stanley goal as Redmond superbly kept out his point-blank diving header from Jimmy Ryan’s cross, before Edwards missed a fine chance when he diverted a free header wide from a corner.

Stanley finally got the goal their play deserved in first-half stoppage time as Tom Lees looped in a cross and Kee climbed above his marker to nod home his second goal since joining the Reds on loan from Leicester at the start of the season.

The second half started more evenly but Stanley started to gain control again and Symes came agonisingly close to Stanley’s second when his lashed shot was somehow pushed inches wide by Redmond.

The Reds top scorer had to wait just seconds for his 11th of the season, though, side-footing home Joyce’s low left-wing corner from six yards.

Greg Pearson headed over from close range for Burton late on before Bouzanis saved a header from the same man.

But in truth there was never much chance of the home side rescuing a draw.
