DAVID Dunn has been ruled out of tomorrow night's Carling Cup tie against Chelsea due to a calf injury - and is a major doubt for Saturday's Premier League clash with Liverpool.
Dunn limped off with a calf problem after in the first half of Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Stoke City.
Rovers were hopeful that he would be fit to face the Blues at Ewood Park in tomorrow's last eight match.
But assistant manager Neil McDonald this morning confirmed that, following a scan on Dunn's calf, the midfielder won't be considered for selection.
Dunn is now facing a race against time to be fit for the weekend's league fixture against Liverpool at Ewood Park.
"David is out of the Chelsea game and is a doubt for Saturday.
"We are assessing how bad the injury is," said McDonald.
The 29-year-old previously missed the Premier League trip to Stamford Bridge this season because of swine flu.
