GRITTY Rossendale can count themselves unlucky after coming away from high-flying Skelmersdale without at least a point.
The UniBond Division One North strugglers produced a performance full of grit and determ-ination.
As expected, the home side started in confident mood and it took a goal-line clearance from Tom Clarkson to deny them from taking the lead.
And it was Clarkson who fired Dale in to the lead, prodding home from close range after 17 minutes following a goalmouth scramble.
But Skelmersdale drew level on 35 minutes when captain Michael White rose to head home from a free kick.
In the second half, Josh Mitton rattled the crossbar and Clarkson did likewise late on but only after Shaun Foster had scored what proved to be a 66th minute winner for Skelmersdale.
