It feels quite strange to write a column dominated by football and not financial matters – very strange indeed after the past few months.

The draw away at Bradford was a very creditable point given the huge difference in squad sizes and wage bills between the two clubs.

To come home with a point is not bad at all.

It was also nice to see Michael Symes score a cracker against one of his old clubs.

He is improving with every game and, along with Bobby Grant, forms one of the most potent strike forces in the league this season.

I think we are destined to finish in mid-table this year and the reason I say this is that every time someone talks about us being good enough to reach the play offs and there is no-one in the top six that can scare us we inevitably lose the next game.

Our game tonight will prove to be a stern test as once again we face a Macclesfield side scrapping for their lives below us in the table.

A win will see us move onto 24 points and, more importantly, give the players a real buzz prior to Saturday’s FA Cup clash against Barnet at the Crown Ground.

Barnet have not had a bad start to the season and I am sure they will make the trip up north thinking they can win.

We, however, will have different plans and should all go well, I cannot decide if I want Rovers or Burnley in the next round!

For the next two games to go ahead at the Crown ground, Buzzer the groundsman will be burning the candle at both ends in his fight with Mother Nature.

The amount of rain we have had in Accrington over the last few weeks has been unbelievable – so much so that the club has spent some cash on improving the drainage.

In my eyes its cash well spent as now the club is safe from taxman we must concentrate on remaining in the league and a fixture pile up at the back end of the season would not help.
