BLACKBURN Rovers have now made an enquiry about Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Rovers boss Sam Allardyce last week responded to questions about van Nistelrooy’s availability by suggesting that he would be interested in the Real Madrid striker, providing the 33-year-old was willing to take a wage cut.

Reports have indicated that the Dutch international, who missed the second half of last season with a serious knee injury, is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu and the likes of Tottenham and Fulham have also been linked.

Allardyce was keen to stress when he spoke on the subject last week that he had not enquired about van Nistelrooy, but the Lancashire Telegraph understands that a tentative enquiry has since been made through an intermediary.

It remains to be seen, though, whether a deal would be viable for the ex-Manchester United forward.
