ACCRINGTON Stanley have been thwarted in their hopes to sign Leeds goalkeeper Alan Martin and Stockport striker Matty McNeil.
Stanley had made Martin their number one target to replace departed keeper Kenny Arthur, but Leeds are unwilling to let the 20-year-old Scot leave – either on loan or permanently.
The Reds had also attempted to sign McNeil but the 6ft 5in forward’s wage demands have scuppered the deal.
“I don’t think that one’s going to happen,” said boss John Coleman.
“And Leeds won’t let Martin out until they get another keeper in.
"We can’t hang around. We’re hoping to finalise a keeper next week.”
