BURNLEY legend Andy Payton is stepping up his direct involvement in football again.
As well as appearing with the Burnley Masters team, his 'Andy Payton School of Finishing’ launches on Monday and he begins a full-time role with Burnley College in four weeks coaching football.
And he revealed Burnley’s 61-game season, which culminated in promotion to the Premier League, has inspired him to pass on his own skills to aspiring footballers.
“I’ve been bitten by the bug again after what happened last season,” said Payton, whose classes run between 6-7pm Monday to Friday.
“In the finishing school, I can take up to 20 in one class, and I’m hoping to build it up so that I’m coaching for three hours a night, to footballers or all ages.
“I want to run a girls’ night too because my 11-year-old daughter, Olivia, plays and ended last season as Burnley girls’ top scorer.
“I’ve targeted youngsters, but if there’s an adult team who wants to use the sessions I’m open to that too, because the only way you’re going to improve is if you practice.”
The ‘Andy Payton School of Finishing’ is being run in conjunction with sponsors Rapid Recruit, Hargreaves Street, where enrolment forms are available.
Sessions, which will take place at the Spirit of Sport Centre, Ormerod Road, can also be booked by contacting 07733 615705.
Demand is high so sessions, which cost £7 per person, will be booked on a first come, first served basis.
