Group A: Accrington v Enfield, Rishton v East Lancs

RISHTON must make do without their professional Aaron Heal this weekend after the Aussie’s knee injury proved more serious than first feared.

And that means that Heal sits out the big 20/20 winner-takes-all derby with East Lancs at Blackburn Road tonight.

Heal damaged his knee while batting in last Saturday’s game with Church and was forced to retire hurt. He then missed Sunday’s return but Rishton offcials were hopeful that he would be fit to return.

However, the Western Australian spinner has not recovered in time and they have been forced to secure sub pros for tonight’s game and Sunday’s league clash with Ramsbottom.

Unsworth paid man Wayne Madsen, who has made a splash in the league already this season while filling in at Church, plays against East Lancs and Darwen pro David Wiese stands in on Sunday.

It’s a big game with both sides pushing for qualification from Group A.

Church are top but have completed their fixtures and can only sit and wait to see if they will make it through to the last four as a group winner with the best runner-up spot likely to go to Edenfield or Haslingden.

East Lancs are at full strength for the short trip and looking to bounce back from their loss to Church last week, their first defeat in more than a year in 20/20 cricket.

Both sides are looking forward to the match - and keeping their fingers crossed for good weather.

“It will be a cracking atmosphere if we get a nice night,” said Rishton star Andy Bartley.

“There will be a good crowd on and the game has everything on it.

“Anything can happen in the 20/20 but we certainly fancy our chances.”

Enfield and Accrington meet in a Dill Hall Lane derby. Liam Jackson deputises as professional for Enfield as Gary Brent has work commitments at Rugby School.

Group B: Haslingden v Bacup, Rawtenstall v Ramsbottom

Group B sees Haslingden entertaining Bacup knowing a win will rubber-stamp their place in the semi-finals.

But even a defeat wouldn’t be a disaster for the Bentgate side. Their stunning run-rate of 10.446 should be enough.

Rawtenstall and Ramsbottom are both out - but that will not make their Bacup Road clash any less intense.

Group C: Burnley v Lowerhouse, Nelson v Todmorden

Khurram Nazir’s men are unchanged with professional Robin Peterson likely to be the key.

But if they slip up, the winners of the Turf Moor derby between Burnley and Lowerhouse, who come together for the their third meeting in six days, will go through to the last four.
