A MOUTH-WATERING artistic tribute to Burnley boss Owen Coyle is to be presented to the Clarets today.
A pastry bust of the Turf Moor boss will be handed over by outgoing shirt sponsor, Baxenden-based Hollands Pies.
It has been created by Prudence Staite, of Food Is Art, a company which specialises in making sculptures and other artwork from food.
Standing at around two feet high and weighing around 60 kilos, the sculpture of Coyle is made entirely out of pastry.
The bust has taken three weeks to complete and has been part-baked with a special hand-held tool, meaning it should last for around two years.
In the past, Prudence has created Radio One DJ Chris Moyles’ head out of chocolate, a picture of the Top Gear presenters from baked beans and even a pizza dough Pope.
Hollands Pies’ three-year shirt deal with Burnley FC came to an end at the end of this season. Local fuel firm Samuel Cooke has taken over.
Hollands managing director Neil Court-Johnston said: “Although we won’t be sponsoring Burnley next year, we couldn’t have hoped for a better way to top off our partnership than seeing them take a place among the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool in the top flight.
“We hope the pastry bust will act as a novel and fitting farewell gift to the club to help celebrate the man who made it all possible.”
