CHURCH must sit and wait to see if they will make it into the last four of the Lancashire League 20/20 competition after rounding off their Group A campaign with a win over Rishton on Friday.
With the three group winners plus the best runner-up going through, the West Enders are well placed with nine points.
But both East Lancs and Rishton can pip them on run rate - and they meet on Friday night.
Church were easy winners over Rishton as they restricted the visitors to 79-9 before sub pro Naeem Ashraf hit an unbeaten 44 from 23 balls to steer them home.
East Lancs heaped more misery on Accrington, who can’t buy a win in 20/20.
Brendan Nash claimed 3-1 and David Turner 4-28 as Accrington were 83 all out despite Roy Silva’s 30. Nash then top scored with 20 as East Lancs got home in 16 overs.
Ramsbottom damaged Edenfield’s chances of progress with a win at Acre Bottom. Edenfield posted 107 in 15 overs.
Brenton Parchment made 47 before being run out to leave Rammy under pressure. But Mark Dentith won the game in the last over.
Haslingden are clear at the top and play Bacup, who also hold hopes of qualifying, in a big game on Friday.
South African Robin Petersen boosted Nelson on his return as he smashed 89 and claimed two wickets as the Seedhillites beat Colne after posting 162-5.
Colne didn’t go down without a fight and professional Anwar Ali plundered 72 but the visitors were 137-7 at the close to leave Nelson in the clear of Group C.
Lowerhouse beat Todmorden - and their Friday meeting with Burnley could see either team making the last four.
