Lancashire coach Peter Moores has named a 13-man squad for the club’s home County Championship fixture against Hampshire Liverpool Cricket Club, which starts on Wednesday.
Indian Batsman VVS Laxman will make his debut for Lancashire, replacing South African Ashwell Prince as the county’s overseas player for the remainder of the season. It is Laxman’s second stint with Lancashire, following a four-week stay at the end of the 2007 season, when he scored 541 runs in all competitions.
All-rounder Tom Smith has been ruled out with a side strain and James Anderson is also unavailable.
Returning to Liverpool to face his former club will be bowler Dominic Cork, along with current England one-day squad member Dimitri Mascarenhas, who has been given permission by the ECB to play in this fixture.
