ARSENAL
br> Arsenal again? The two sides have already faced each other three times in the last two seasons.
The Clarets won the Carling Cup encounter, but they found life a little tougher in two FA Cup defeats.

ASTON VILLA
br> The Clarets lost to a Kevin Phillips goal at Villa Park in the Carling Cup four years ago but strikes from Graham Branch, Mo Camara and Jean-Louis Valois secured a 3-1 win in the same competition a season earlier.
Last meeting: Aston Villa 1 Burnley 0 (Carling Cup third round, October 10, 2005).
Last league meeting: Burnley 2 Aston Villa 2 (old First Division, February 28, 1976).
BIRMINGHAM CITY
br> Burnley were underdogs when they faced the Blues during 2008/09 but drew both games.
Owen Coyle felt they should have had more than Martin Paterson’s goal to show for their display at St Andrew’s.

BLACKBURN ROVERS
br> Put simply, the fixture that every Burnley fan is waiting for.
It is now 30 years since the Clarets beat Rovers and meetings since the turn of the millennium have been feisty to say the least.
David Dunn still winces when he thinks of Kevin Ball.

BOLTON WANDERERS
br> Burnley travelled to the Reebok in their first game following promotion to the First Division in 2000, drawing 1-1.
Owen Coyle had his only spell in English football as a player with Bolton and is sure to receive a hero’s reception.
Last meeting: Burnley 0 Bolton 2 (First Division, December 23, 2000).
CHELSEA
br> The Clarets will relish returning to the scene of one of their most famous triumphs in recent years.
A reunion with coin thrower extraordinaire Didier Drogba may add a bit of spice.
Last meeting: Chelsea 1 Burnley 1 (Burnley won 5-4 on pens, Carling Cup fourth round, November 12, 2008).
Last league meeting: Burnley 3 Chelsea 0 (old Second Division, April 23, 1983).
EVERTON
br> These two clubs have not met since Burnley were last relegated from the top flight 33 years ago.
Away fans should be warned that facilities for visiting supporters at Goodison Park have barely improved.
Last meeting: Everton 2 Burnley 3 (old First Division, January 31, 1976).
FULHAM
br> The first of Burnley’s five cup wins over Premier League opposition during 2008/09 came against Fulham when Jay Rodriguez waltzed around the goalkeeper for his first Clarets goal.
Last meeting: Burnley 1 Fulham 0 (Carling Cup third round, Sept 23, 2008).
Last league meeting: Burnley 2 Fulham 1 (First Division, February 20, 2001).
HULL CITY
br> Mike Riley sent off four players when the two sides last met at the KC.
Hull’s win at Turf Moor two years ago spelt the end for Steve Cotterill.
Last meeting: Hull 2 Burnley 0 (Championship, March 4, 2008).
LIVERPOOL
br> IF Carlsberg made own goals, they would probably be like the one Djimi Traore scored to give Burnley an FA Cup victory over Rafa Benitez’s Reds.

Last league meeting: Liverpool 2 Burnley 0 (old First Division, March 27, 1976).
MANCHESTER CITY
Burnley have not beaten City since 1974 and have conceded 21 goals in their last five matches against them, all of which have resulted in defeat.
Just as well, then, that City aren’t the richest club in the world and don’t have players like Robinho at their disposal.

MANCHESTER UNITED
The prospect of playing at Turf Moor may have led to Cristiano Ronaldo taking the first plane to Madrid, but United will still be daunting yet glamorous opposition.
Burnley have not been to Old Trafford since 1984, while Chris Eagles is yet to face his old club.
Last meeting: Burnley 0 Manchester United 2 (Worthington Cup fourth round, December 3, 2002).
Last league meeting: Burnley 0 Manchester United 1 (old First Division, April 19, 1976).
PORTSMOUTH
Burnley have not met Pompey in the top flight since 1959 and have not beaten them since 1982.
The long journey Fratton Park remains one of the Premier League’s least glamorous away days.
Last meeting: Burnley 0 Portsmouth 1 (Carling Cup third round, September 25, 2007).
Last league meeting: Portsmouth 1 Burnley 0 (First Division, April 15, 2003).
STOKE CITY
Burnley and Stoke are no strangers, having been in the same division as each other for nine of the last 12 seasons, dating back to their days in Division Two.
Martin Paterson will get the opportunity to face the side with which he started his career.
Last meeting: Stoke 1 Burnley 1 (Championship, March 8, 2008).
SUNDERLAND
The Black Cats, who have not lost to Burnley since the 1978/79 season, sealed promotion to the Premier League two days after a victory against Burnley two years ago.
Steven Caldwell faces his old club, while Burnley are hoping to sign Russell Anderson from Sunderland.
Last meeting: Sunderland 3 Burnley 2 (Championship, April 27, 2007).
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
Burnley will not need any motivating for their meeting with Spurs after the cruel way they missed out on a place in the Carling Cup final during 2008/09.
Tottenham, though, will know to be wary of the Clarets this time.
Last meeting: Burnley 3 Tottenham 2 (Carling Cup semi final second leg, January 21, 2009).
Last league meeting: Burnley 2 Tottenham 1 (old Second Division, April 1, 1978).
WEST HAM UNITED
Another bogey team, the Hammers have not lost to Burnley since 1978.
Veteran striker Teddy Sheringham scored the only goal when the sides last met – at Turf Moor four years ago.
Last meeting: Burnley 0 West Ham 1 (Championship, April 5, 2005).
WIGAN ATHLETIC
Burnley have never met Wigan in the top flight and have won only two of the 19 meetings between the sides since their first fixture in 1983.
Wigan will be one of seven north west opponents for the Clarets.
Last meeting: Burnley 1 Wigan 0 (Championship, December 28, 2004).
WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS
Wolves may have gone up as champions but Chris McCann’s goal consigned them to defeat at Turf Moor in February.
These two sides met in the Clarets’ last season in the top flight in 1976 but have since played each other in the Fourth Division.
Last meeting: Burnley 1 Wolves 0 (Championship, February 14, 2009).
