NELSON shot to the top of the Lancashire League 20/20 Group C as they swamped neighbours Burnley to make it two wins from two in this year’s competition.
Vishal Tripathi made 42 at the top of the Burnley order and professional Jeeva Kulatanga made 25 to give the Turf Moor outfit a fine start at Seedhill.
But from a position of comfort at 64-1, Burnley’s innings stalled as Richard Meade claimed 3-25 and no other batsman made any impact and they were 119 all out, commiting the cardinal sin of not batting their 20 overs.
Nelson, however, slumped to 12-3 as Neil Thompson, Stuart Lemon and sub-pro Raouf Akbar were all sent back cheaply.
But Nelson settled down and Thomas Lord’s 28 and 24 from David Crotty put them back on track.
In the end, Sean Lemon and Will Lawton took them home by four wickets with an over to spare and Nelson’s 100 per cent record this season sees them clear at the top of their group with Burnley second and the inactive Lowerhouse third.
