BLACKBURN Rovers suffered a controversial extra-time defeat at Charlton in the FA Youth Cup.
Rovers went ahead in the third-round clash at The Valley through Michael Hall on 38 minutes.
But Charlton equalised through Sam Long four minutes later and the suspiciously offside Jonjo Shelvey scored an extra time winner, firing home after his initial attempt had been saved by Rovers’ German goalkeeper Bjorn Bussmann.
It is the third successive year Rovers have exited the FA Youth Cup in the third round.
