BLACKBURN Rovers' hopes of a Carling Cup semi-final berth are fading fast as they trail 2-0 to Manchester United.
For Rovers boss Paul Ince, it was the worst possible return to Old Trafford and did nothing to lift the spirits of a side that has dropped into the Premier League’s bottom three.
The visitors enjoyed some encouraging moments, as Stephen Warnock burst clear of the United defence, only to rush his shot.
But United took the lead nine minutes before the break, as Ryan Giggs' cross was converted by Carlos Tevez under pressure from Aaron Mokoena.
United quickly added another, with Tevez providing a cushioned return pass to Nani, who drilled a low shot under Paul Robinson’s body.
