DESPITE being reduced to 10 men for an hour, Rossendale held on to a deserved point at Wakefield in UniBond First Division North.
Rossendale raced into a two-goal lead, with the first coming in the 13th minute when Mitchell Bailey whipped in a cross from the right and Kevin Dawson only succeeded in heading the ball into his own goal.
Five minutes later Bailey slipped the loose ball to Matt Ward, who beat the keeper.
This seemed to spur Wakefield on and they reduced the arrears when James Walshaw was left unmarked on the edge of the box and his firm shot gave Ben Proctor little chance.
The game then hinged on the sending off of Marcus Calvert in the 34th minute for retaliation.
In the second half Wakefield took full advantage of their extra man and within four minutes were on level terms when Walshaw cut in from the right and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net.
