OWEN Coyle hopes Steve Jones will be boosted by his latest loan move.
The 32-year-old, who is in the last year of his current Burnley contract, has joined League Two promotion pushers Bradford City until the New Year, following the end of his one-month spell with Huddersfield Town.
Jones had not made a first team appearance for the Clarets ahead of his switch to the Galpharm Stadium, under then manager Stan Ternent.
The Northern Ireland international made four appearances, including two starts, but did not feature again after Ternent’s last game in charge, against Jones’ former club Crewe, on November 1.
“Steve’s gone out on loan to Bradford until January 3 after coming back from Huddersfield,” said Coyle.
“With Stan leaving (Huddersfield), I’ve got to say I don’t think he was treated particularly well, but that was circumstances I think.
“I’ve spoken to Stuart McCall, who I get on very well with, so Steve will go there and get some games, get fully fit and hopefully score a few goals and give him a lift.”
Burnley were unable to add to their squad ahead of last night’s loan deadline, but Coyle hopes to soon have Christian Kalvenes and Remco van der Schaaf fit.
