PUB sportsmen and women who fancy themselves as a dab-hand at darts or a shark on the pool table have the chance to put their money where their mouth is and play for a prize fund worth up to £800.
Riley's Snooker Club in Blackburn will be hosting an 'Ironman Tournament' with a difference as competitors will be asked to take part in a series of pub sports over the course of five weeks.
The tournament begins on Sunday, November 30 with one event every week including English and American pool, darts and snooker. The event culminates with a game of Texas ‘Hold em’ Poker with each competitor given a number of chips dependant upon their performance in the previous four sports.
Tournament organiser Rob Howe came up with the idea as Riley's attempt to find the 'ultimate' pub sports champion.
He said: “All the games featured are currently played at Riley's as single tournaments, so we thought it would create added interest if we combined them all together to try and find the ultimate champion. Hopefully if it proves popular it is something we can run several times a year.”
Entry to the tournament costs £10 plus an additional £10 per event played.
There are cash prizes on offer for the top four competitors each week, while those who take part in every sport will qualify for a free prize draw.
Anyone wishing to take part in the 'Ironman Tournament' can contact Rob Howe on 01254 582164.
