BURNLEY slipped to defeat despite a fantastic Martin Paterson-inspired fightback.
Trailing to Jon Macken's first half strike, the Clarets fell further behind in controversial fashion when Jamal Campbell-Ryce's shot hit the offside Simon Whaley before flying in.
Then, to make matters worse for the furious Clarets, Diego Leon made it 3-0 on 51 minutes when his shot took a deflection off Steven Caldwell before going in.
But the introduction of Paterson fired the Clarets as he scored twice in four minutes to give the Clarets real hope.
But Tykes keeper Heinz Muller produced a string of top-class saves to deny Chris McCann and Chris Eagles late on to ensure the points stayed at Oakwell.
