JOHN Coleman hailed his side for a “magnificent” second-half display that saw Accrington Stanley snatch a well-deserved League Two point at Chesterfield.
The Reds trailed at half-time due to Jack Lester’s strike.
But the introduction of John Miles at the interval helped trigger a Stanley revival, as Jimmy Ryan popped up for a leveller six minutes from time at Saltergate.
“I was disappointed with the first-half performance – we did not get going,” said Reds manager Coleman.
“We did not get our teeth into the game.
“But in the second-half, we were magnificent.
“I felt sorry for Andrew Procter because we’ve took him off at half-time and it looks as though that changed the game.
“John Miles played well when he came on, but the whole team was lifted.
“We were first to most balls, bright and inventive.
“If I’m to be over-critical, it’s that we got into some great areas and then mis-kicked some crosses and shots. But we kept on driving forward and taking the game to Chesterfield.
“It was a smashing goal. We’ve got a range of set-plays that we work on, and it’s paid off.”
Stanley are now 14th in League Two after extending their unbeaten run to four games.
Coleman added: “I would have took a point before the game – it’s a difficult place to come to.
“But our fans were absolutely magnigicent.
“They were like our 12th man.”
