BLACKBURN Rovers midfielder Keith Andrews came off the bench to score on his debut for the Republic of Ireland last night.
Andrews came on with 17 minutes remaining and thumped home a fine effort in injury time as the Irish lost 3-2 at home to Poland.
Benni McCarthy claimed an assist in South Africa’s 3-2 win over Cameroon as he played his first game since the death of his father last week. Rovers teammate Aaron Mokoena also started for South Africa in the match.
Morten Gamst Pedersen played 89 minutes for Norway but saw his country lose 1-0 away to Ukraine.
