CLITHEROE’S promotion bid took a further dent as they slumped to their fifth successive defeat in Wales.
Colwyn Bay took the lead in the second minute following a Jonathon Smith mistake, as Neil Black raced through on goal and kept his composure to fire past Blues goalkeeper Martin Fearon.
The Welsh outfit doubled their advantage on 22 minutes. Black again capitalised on a forced error, intercepting a loose ball from Liam McManus, and his shot brought out a great save from Fearon, but Dean Canning quickly followed up to convert the loose ball with a diving header.
Fearon was kept busy for much of the game, and he was beaten for a third time six minutes after the interval as Rob Hopley fired low into the bottom corner.
Only rarely did Clitheroe manage to test Bay stopper Michael Langley.
