PAUL Ince has defiantly vowed not to let the boo-boys beat him after Ewood Park made their disgust vociferously known on Saturday.
A second-half collapse saw Sunderland claim a 2-1 win to send Rovers plummeting into the Premier League drop zone with the home faithful vocal in their disapproval.
Blackburn boss Ince though insists ‘a few boos’ were of no concern – insisting it would take time before his Rovers revolution is fully operational.
He said: “Of course they are going to boo, it was disappointing.
"But let’s not be under any illusions we have not spent the most amount of money in this league, probably the second lowest.
“As I said before, we are changing things at this club and it will take time.
“I have been booed all my life, I have been in the game 20 years and boos don’t worry me. But we will go again.”
Rovers’ first-half display had plenty of signs of encouragement though as Chris Samba’s 45th minute opener was just reward for a dominant display.
After Kenwyne Jones took advantage of a Paul Robinson error to equalise on 49 minutes, the complexion of the game swung and Djibril Cisse’s 72nd minute winner was in the end inevitable.
“The first-half we should have been three or four nil up, maybe 4-1 because Cisse had a chance later on,” said Ince.
“It was a case of much the same to be honest. We got into the changing room at half-time and everyone was vibrant, much the same in the second half.
“But for some reason, unknown to me, the players didn’t listen. Straight from kick-off, we said go into their half but we decide to go back.
“Then Keith and Danny think they are Brazilian down the right hand side and after that we don’t get out of our box. It was very disappointing in the second-half.”
While Robinson was at fault for Sunderland’s opener, flapping at a corner under pressure from Steed Malbranque, Ince insists he won’t be made a scapegoat.
The Rovers stopper was later again left out of the latest England squad, with David James, Scott Carson and Joe Hart named to face Germany.
Ince said: “It was a mistake by our goalkeeper without a doubt. But Robbo has been outstanding and every goalkeeper is going to make a mistake.
“It came at the wrong time though. He has been outstanding for us though so I am not going to hammer him for that. It was not just Robbo, it was the whole team.
“I will always defend my players because, at the end of the day, we are all in it together.
“As I said before it is going to be a long, long hard road and I will always defend my players.”
It could have been a different story had Rovers made the most of a host of first chances that came their way.
“But when you go out like that in the second-half and not actually play, that is the disappointing thing,” said Ince.
“We are saying it all the time about chances. Roque has a great header, Kish should have scored and even in the last minute we had three chances where we should score to make it 2-2.
“It is different though when you are playing for points and they were on the front foot in the second half and played ever so well.
“It is disappointing to lose that is for sure. I am fuming because it was a great opportunity for us.
“I thought Chris Samba was absolutely out of this world I thought Andre, for his first game back, was out of this world.”
