STEVEN Thompson returns to the starting line-up as Burnley bid to capitalise on the momentum of their incredible Carling Cup win over Chelsea at QPR this afternoon.

The striker was cup-tied on Wednesday, but lines up alongside Robbie Blake at Loftus Road, with Martin Paterson on the bench alongside midweek goal hero Ade Akinbiyi.

Alan Mahon is also named among the substitutes as reward for his excellent contribution off the bench at Stamford Bridge.

Central defender Clarke Carlisle returns following a one-match ban, filling the void left by captain Steven Caldwell's suspension.
