COLNE will bid to improve on their poor league form when they host St Helens Town in the Vodkat League Premier Division tomorrow.
Nigel Coates’ side secured a 3-1 victory against Congleton in a Vodkat League Cup tie on Saturday and the manager was delighted with the improvement in the team’s defending.
He said: “Last week we got what we deserved, even the goal we conceded on Saturday should have been disallowed as it was a yard away from going over the line.
“We defended better and hopefully we will play like that this week.”
Coates’ side have conceded 24 goals in 10 league matches this season, with Colne currently in 17th place in the Premier Division - a point behind tomorrow’s opponents St Helens.
Coates added: “We haven’t defended well enough as a team as well as making individual mistakes and if you put the two together it’s not a great situation.”
