ACCRINGTON Stanley have now gone five years without an FA Cup victory after defeat in their first-round replay at League One side Tranmere Rovers tonight.

Stanley's last FA Cup win came against Bournemouth - Saturday's league opponents - in 2003 and Chris Shuker's 68th-minute strike ensured that there would be no victory at Prenton Park tonight.

Shuker beat Kenny Arthur midway through the second half after Tranmere caught Stanley with a four-on-three counter attack.

Steve Jennings surged forward and then prodded the ball into the path of Shuker, who darted in from the left and found the net with a first-time shot.

The only goal of the game came just a minute after Jimmy Ryan had thudded a free kick against the post for Stanley.

Arthur denied Chris Greenacre with a fine save in the final few minutes but, despite a valiant effort, Stanley could not force an equaliser at the other end.

Ian Moore had chipped the ball against the bar for the hosts in the fourth minute of the match, while Stanley lost Robbie Williams to injury after just seven minutes.

Tranmere will now travel to Peterborough in the second round.
