IAN Moore hit the crossbar for Tranmere Rovers but Accrington Stanley shaded a fairly even first half in their FA Cup first-round replay at Prenton Park.
Moore's fourth-minute chip from 25 yards evaded Stanley goalkeeper Kenny Arthur but came back off the bar.
The Reds lost Robbie Williams through injury in the eighth minute, with Colin Murdock coming on as a substitute and Phil Edwards switching to right back.
Despite the reshuffle, Stanley grew into the game and former Tranmere player John Mullin had a sight of goal in the 12th minute but his left-footed shot was saved one-handed by Danny Coyne.
What followed was a period of few chances, although Bas Savage might have done better when his wild effort went well wide from Moore's cross.
