JOE Calzaghe cemented his legacy as one of the greatest fighters ever to lace up a pair of gloves with his convincing victory over Roy Jones Jr in Madison Square Garden.
Even though you could argue that Jones was past his best, Calzaghe still went into his own backyard and did a number on him - having to climb off the canvas in the first round to do it.
The papers today are full of stories pleading with Joe to quit - but I'm hoping for one more fight in front of his own fans.
I was at the Millennium Stadium for his fight against Peter Manfredo Jr and it was an atmosphere I'll never forget.
The organisers had put a massive curtain along the halfway line of the pitch and used one half of the stadium for the crowd.
It was simply incredible. The 35,000 packed into the stadium made an incredible noise, even though the fight was a bit of a non-event.
And it's in those kind of surroundings I'd like to see Joe go out. It doesn't really matter who he fights, what's important is that the people that adore him get a chance to say goodbye.
He's proved that he's lost none of his skill, sharpness or power - it's not like he's a fighter on the decline.
It's more about one last big night in front of his own fans. A chance for Calzaghe to bring the curtain down on his glittering career in front of the people who have followed him since he began on the long road to glory in 1993.
The greatest fighter of his generation deserves the greatest send off.
