A TOUGH 90 minutes against a physical Garforth saw Rossendale pick up a much-needed point in UniBond First Division North.

The result was obtained with only 10 men following the controversial sending off of James Heywood for a second bookable offence.

The first half ended scoreless but new signing Zach Clark produced a mazy run into the box and was hauled down five minutes into the second period.

Caretaker manager Phil Eastwood stepped up to make no mistake from the spot to put Rossendale into the lead.

The lead however was short lived as Garforth, whose manager Simon Clifford worked alongside Clive Woodward at Southampton, levelled four minutes later.

A neat back heel in the box left Andrew Hayward in the clear and he rolled the ball past Lee Bracey.

The game then hinged on the sending off as Wayne Harratt put the visitors in front when he was left with a simple header inside the penalty box.

Rossendale were then rewarded with yet another penalty and Eastwood again duly obliged from the spot to give Rossendale a point.
