BACUP secured an extra-time draw at Wigan Robin Park in the Vodkat League Challenge Cup second round.
Wigan Robin Park, currently second in the Vodkat North West Counties First Division were playing host to a Bacup side currently in the top half of the Premier Division.
Wigan took the lead in 44 minutes following a bizarre situation. Bacup keeper Phil Melville had the ball but must have passed a comment to the referee, who stopped play to book him and then awarded the home side a free kick. While the Bacup players were remonstrating with the official, the ball was played in and Ryan Small scored.
Bacup got back on level terms on 60 minutes when Sean Roscoe produced a quality free kick that went in off the underside of the bar.
Bacup introduced new signing Anthony Hargreaves but Small put the hosts ahead again with three minutes left, only for Kyle Harrop to then force extra time.
In the additional period Bacup went ahead for the first time as Lee Ellis unleashed a brilliant shot into the roof of the net from 30 yards, although Small completed his hat-trick to force a replay in the 113th minute.
The replay will take place week at West View on Wednesday, November 19.
The winners travel to AFC Fylde in the third round.
