MATT Derbyshire has warned Chelsea’s galacticos ‘money isn’t everything’ after insisting Rovers’ five-game winless streak can be halted in style tomorrow.

Luiz Felipe Scolari’s multi-million pound collection of stars travel to Ewood looking to cement their status as Premier League title contenders but Derbyshire insists their presence holds no fear.

The expected Chelsea line-up at Ewood Park cost the Blues in the region of £117.3 million to assemble – a far cry from the £18.5m spent on building Paul Ince’s current side.

With £24m acquisition Didier Drogba expected to be on the visitors’ bench, despite costing more than the entire Rovers side, Ince’s men know they are up against it but Derbyshire insists Rovers can defy the odds.

He said: “There is never any pressure from the fans, this is a great club, There is never any pressure from the manager other than do your best and play well. If we do that I am sure we will come out with the result.

“Money doesn’t give them any right to win games, does it heck. Look at Hull City – they have been marvellous. They have shown no respect to anyone and are flying at the moment.

“Maybe we have respected teams too much. But I am sure we will make sure we don’t show them too much respect and if we do that, we can get a result.”

The 22-year-old England Under 21 striker has endured a frustrating start to the 2008/09 campaign, either being left out of the starting side or being played on the left of midfield.

Derbyshire has still managed to grab himself three goals but, ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Chelsea, has fired a reminder of his real position.

“Midfielder, winger, you name it, swiss army knife if you want,” he said. Whatever I play I will try to do my best and for the fans.

“Of course I see myself as a striker though. I am not a winger, I am not a midfielder I am striker but if I am put out there I will do a job.”

Benni McCarthy’s suspension could hand Derbyshire a fresh chance to bolster his reputation with Rovers boss Paul Ince against Chelsea tomorrow.

Without a win in five games, the hosts will be desperate for a morale-boosting victory, especially after last weekend’s controversial thrilling 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion.

Derbyshire said: “I would like to think I have a chance of being involved on Sunday but the manager will pick whatever team he thinks will win the game.

“I have to bide my team till I get my chance again, and hopefully that is Sunday.

“Keith’s finish at West Brom was a great goal. I think the boys thought we deserved all three points to be honest with you.

“With 10 men it is a great point, if you look back at it, but we are still disappointed.

“Taking our chances is what we have to be doing but we will carry on and I am sure we’ll do better than we have in the last few games.”
