RAMSBOTTOM manager Andy Feeley has backed in-form striker Andy Sensale to smash the 20-goal barrier this season.

Sensale took his tally to 10 after blasting a quickfire hat-trick last weekend.

And as the Rams prepare for tomorrow’s Vodkat League Cup second-round tie at neighbours Padiham, Feeley believes his young namesake can prove doubters wrong for the full campaign.

“Andy has done everything that I’ve asked of him,” said the United boss. “When I came here, some people told me that he wasn’t good enough and that he couldn’t score goals at this level. But he’s proving them wrong.

“He does lack confidence at times. He needs to be more confident in himself - and that’s half the problem.

“But he’s scored 10 goals already this season, and if you look around, goalscorers are few and far between.

“The lad at Bacup, Tommy Turner, has scored a lot, but he’s on a lot more money than we can give Andy.”

Feeley added: “I’ve told Andy that he can go on to score 20 goals this season.

“I’ve given him that target, but it’s up to him to set himself little targets and try and stick to them.

“He only scored 12 for the whole of last season, but he’s well on his way to beating that.”

Feeley is hoping to secure a short-term loan for young Leeds United goalkeeper Damien Ross, who played in the recent loss at Alsager.
