ANOTHER week, another TV schedule chock full of football. Does anybody else find it a little tedious?

I'm a sports nut, that's why I love the job I do. Sky Sports News is the first thing I flick on when I get up in the morning and all day long I think, watch or read about sport.

But with live football on practically every night, sometimes you can have too much of a good thing.

Sure the money has helped the game in this country immeasurably, but I think I've become de-sensitised to it all.

When I was growing up, it was the highlight of your day that there was live football on the telly - even though you missed the first half because Wogan was on!

Now, it seems day or night there's a live game on the box.

And although I don't want to hark back to those days, isn't there a case of arguing that less is more?

And what lies in the future? Stanley v Rochdale on a Wednesday lunchtime? Man Utd v Liverpool on Christmas Day in a ratings battle with the Queen's Speech? It's not as ludicrous as the "39th game!"

Live football on the TV is not the event it used to be for me. It's like having a steak dinner every night - after a while you can't face it anymore and you're dreaming about salad.

I'd prefer the broadcasters try and come to a happy medium, but with the TV executives throwing money at the clubs each time the licences come up for renewal, I'm sure it won't be long before football has it's very own channel where live games will be shown 24/7 and 365. How sad.
