THE cap certainly fits for secondary schools in Blackburn and Darwen.
For each school was presented with a representive cap by the Blackburn with Darwen Schoolboy Football Association.
The presentation was made during the half time interval in Blackburn Rovers recent Premier League match against Middlesbrough.
Traditonally, the caps are awarded to every player who represents the Under 15s town team.
However, the framed cap – to be displayed in each of the schools – was awarded to acknowledge all of the secondary schools in the borough for their financial support they have given the BwDSFA.
The funding has proved to be a valuable contribution which allows the Association to run a number of age group teams and take part in English schools competitions.
Blackburn with Darwen Schoolboys is one of the oldest Associations in England, having been established more than 100 years ago.
It has a long tradition of producing players who have played for Blackburn Rovers including James Beattie, Andy Taylor and Paul Gallagher who have all played for Blackburn with Darwen Schoolboys in recent years.
