ROSSENDALE’S superb start to life in North Two West continued with a fine victory over in-form Brougton Park.
But team manager Mick Barnes has warned his players of the dangers lurking around the corner – namely a wounded Blackburn side who they entertain on Saturday.
While Dale have hit the heady heights since gaining promotion, Blackburn, last season’s North Lancs Cumbria champions, have plummeted the depths and still search for their first win of the season.
“You write Blackburn off at your peril,” warned Barnes. “They have not had the best of starts to the season but whenever we play them I never think we are going to beat them.
“I’m not too sure what is going on there at the moment but one thing is for sure, they will be hell bent are getting one over us.”
The two local rivals have already met this season with the EDF Cup clash going to form as Dale ran out 15-7 winners at Ramsgreave Drive last month.
And it was the same score line at Broughton Park as Dale climbed to third place in the table.
Dale played with all the confidence of a side who have won five of their seven matches this season – although they had to come from behind to beat Park.
After conceding an early converted try, Dale hit back with Roger Dennison going over in the corner after some excellent work from outside half Jason Bramhall.
Scrum half Shaun Stirrup missed the extras but made up for it when he slotted over a penalty as Dale led 8-7 at the break.
In the second half, Dale with full back James Squires in sublime form, stepped up a few gears and piled the pressure on their hosts.
Ill-discipline was the undoing of Park and Dale made them pay when Danny Collins crossed, with Bramhall again instrumental in the build up.
Stirrup converted and Dale closed up shop as they secured another fine victory in a fine season to date.
