ARE the "old school" managers back for good?

After Harry Redknapp swept into Spurs and Joe Kinnear became the talk of the Toon, it makes you wonder if the continental managers are going to become a rare breed in the next few years.

Although the "Big Four" will always try and poach the top managers from all over the globe, the other Premier League clubs may opt for a more British approach.

And I don't think it's any coincidence that Redknapp and Kinnear have turned things around.

They know the country, the players, the league and, importantly, the language.

Neither man has spent any money but have begun to turn around their clubs' fortunes in a short space of time. I can't see either spending hours on ProZone or consulting faith healers.

They will tell their players what's expected of them - and lay down the law when they fail to reach the standards required.

The players are of a high quality and know how to play the game, they just needed a bit of confidence.

Quote of the week for me was Redknapp's advice to Roman Pavlyuchenko, via his Russian interpreter, during the Liverpool game.

He said: "Just tell him to run around."

It's simple but effective!
