MIDFIELDER Steven Reid and several of his Blackburn Rovers team-mates helped to raise almost £10,000 for a cancer charity in memory of their friend and colleague Siobhan Cooper.

Siobhan, who worked for the club at both the Academy and the Senior Training Centre, sadly passed away earlier this year after fighting a brave battle against breast cancer.

An inspirational and popular figure around the club, Siobhan organised a number of fundraising events for cancer charities as she courageously fought the disease, the last of which was a May ball held at Langho Football Club.

Sadly, Siobhan died weeks before the event was due to take place but her friends and colleagues ensured it still went ahead in her memory and they managed to raise £9,435.88 for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, a charity that provides additional facilities and equipment for cancer patients at the Royal Preston Hospital.
