ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman wants his side to show their killer instinct to avoid letting any more points slipping away.

Second-half goals against Wycombe and Morecambe, which saw the Reds draw the Lancashire derby 1-1, has cost Stanley four points this week – which could have seen the Reds as high as 13th.

And Coleman, who takes his side to face Dagenham and Redbridge tomorrow, wants his side to take full advantage when they’re on top.

He said: “The minimum we should have come away with from Bradford was a draw and the minimum we should have against Wycombe was a draw.

“Add that to losing to Exeter, when I thought we should have put the game to bed in the first-half, and again the same at Barnet.

“That’s four points that could catapult you up the table and that’s without having to play any different.

“And that’s what we have to learn -– to take something out of every game.

“We should have taken a point on Saturday (against Wycombe) when we weren’t at our best and if we keep taking something out of games then, eventually, when we play well we’ll win.

“We’ve let too many points slide already this season so the point at Morecambe is one we’ll take.

He added: “I’ve watched the video again and I’m still disappointed with our first- half performance.

“After going into the lead and missing a great chance to go 2-0 up, we surrendered ground to Morecambe and, give them their credit, they came at us, threw more bodies forward and we had to change our shape to combat their shape because they were having the better of the first-half.

“To get to half-time with our lead intact despite them giving up a few chances was good. But to concede a goal in the way we did was poor.

“We let them come into our half too cheaply and gave a silly foul and it cost us because, after that, they didn’t really trouble us.

“We had a couple of chances ourselves and I think on the balance of chances a draw was a fair result.

“But we move on now, it’s certainly a point gained when you haven’t picked up too many points this season.”

And this weekend, Stanley will hope to maintain their impressive away form when they face old foes Dagenham.

The Daggers lie seventh after a thumping home win over Grimsby, but Coleman is confident the Reds can maintain their unbeaten run at Victoria Road.

He said: “We’ve acquitted ourselves well when we’ve gone there, not so much at home, but we’ve generally done well when we’ve gone down to them and hopefully that will continue tomorrow.

“I think they’ve surprised a few people with how well they’ve done this season. They had a minor blip when they lost a couple of games but they came back with a resounding win in the week and that will fill them with confidence.

“But we’re going there in high spirits. In our last two away games, we’ve acquited ourselves well and we’re going there to take all the points.

“Dagenham have done well and I think they’ve changed the way they play.

“They’re a bigger and stronger side now and it will be interesting to see how it pans out, but I know if we can get our passing game going we’re a match for anybody.”
