KEITH Andrews insists a morale-boosting win is just round the corner – but knows a string of sloppy goals conceded are at risk of ruining Rovers’ campaign.

Paul Ince’s men travel to West Bromwich Albion tomorrow without a win in four games but Andrews insists the results don’t tell the whole story.

Rovers dominated Wednesday’s 3-2 defeat at Villa Park for large periods but a lack of basic defending allowed Luke Young, Gareth Barry and Gabriel Agbonlahor hand the hosts a fortuitous victory.

On the back of disappointing draws against Bolton and Middlesbrough, having also controlled proceedings for the most part, Rovers know it is time they started showing a more ruthless killer instinct.

Andrews said: “We are bitterly disappointed because I thought at times we dominated the game. We had chances and controlled general play but we just allowed sloppy goals.

“It is not just the defence and the goalkeeper. As a team we are bitterly disappointed in the goals we have conceded.

“It was a fault we thought we had rectified a few weeks ago after a couple of 4-0s and 4-1, but it is something we will have to rectify.”

While Rovers won’t want to pile the pressure on too much ahead of this weekend’s return to the Midlands, maximum points are becoming increasingly important to ensure a satisfactory start to the campaign does not become a disappointing one.

Andrews said: “It was always going to be a big game. No disrespect to them, but their home games are going to be important for them.

“They will be looking for the three points but it is a game we have the confidence.

"Either way it was going to be a big game but possibly it has become a little bit more now.”
