TERRY Gornell is keeping his options open after Accrington Stanley made it clear that they would like to sign the on-loan striker on a permanent deal.

Gornell has impressed with three goals in his last four games and assistant boss Jimmy Bell said last week that Stanley should ‘keep testing the water with Tranmere’ to find out whether the League One club would be willing to let the 18-year-old go.

Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore was previously quoted as saying that Gornell, who was linked with Everton this summer, was still very much part of his plans and was simply on loan to gain experience, and there is no suggestion that stance has changed.

Gornell’s loan is currently scheduled to expire after the home league game against Bournemouth on November 15 but the teenager is thoroughly enjoying his time at the Fraser Eagle Stadium and the deal looks likely to be extended into a third month.

As for beyond that, Gornell is happy to see how things go, knowing he does not need to make any decisions about his long-term future just yet.

“I’ll just take it as it comes,” he said.

“I’ve not really spoken to Jimmy and the gaffer about it. They’ve just been laughing and joking with me that the contract is there to sign.

“But I’ve been made up with how it’s gone here.

“I spoke to Ronnie Moore at Tranmere’s game against Crewe on Friday. He just said well done and wished me all the best for Saturday.

“I’m not too sure whether they will let me stay here for the season. You never know.

“When I first came here I thought it might only be for a month, so I’ll just have to wait and see.”
