INTERNATIONAL goalkeepers from Blackburn Rovers and Burnley FC have joined a campaign to keep fireworks in safe hands this Bonfire Night.

Paul Robinson of Blackburn Rovers and England and Diego Penny of Burnley and Peru are setting aside their on pitch rivalries to support the campaign.

It is aimed at 'have-a-go-dads', urging them to be extra careful with fireworks this year, or risk putting their families in danger.

They are lining up to tackle the number of firework related injuries across the North West with 167 injured in 2005.

One of the top messages they will be promoting is that children should always wear gloves when handling sparklers.

The firework safety campaign has been launched by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.
