THERE will be much debate in the Burnley dressing room at half-time as to who is claiming the 14th minute opener.
Joey Gudjonsson had the initial shot from outside the area, but it took a decisive nick off Steven Thompson to send it past Nicky Weaver.
If Thompson is ultimately credited with the goal, it will be his first since joining the Clarets on transfer deadline day.
However, Owen Coyle's men should be taking a more comfortable lead into the break, after Martin Paterson had a goal controversially chalked off for offside before the deadlock was officially broken.
Referee Rob Shoebridge had waved play-on when his assistant's flag had gone up on the far side, seemingly spotting that the ball had flicked back off Yassin Moutaouakil's head. So Paterson continued his run to the byeline before cutting back and slotting the ball beyond Weaver.
But while Paterson celebrated his eighth strike of the season, the referee was consulting with his linesman, and subsequently ruled his effort out for offside.
