DO we dare to dream that Andy Murray is the real deal?

After claiming his second ATP Masters title in Madrid last weekend, Murray is now firmly among the world's best players.

The British number one has made the world number four spot his own and has wins over the three players ranked higher than him this season.

And as he marches on in the defence of his St Petersburg Open title, Murray seems destined for glory.

But haven't we been here before?

At one time or another, Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski carried the heavy weight of the nation's hopes on their shoulders.

Both men came so close to glory but, despite having good careers, neither could land a major.

But in Murray, you can't help feel we have someone who can climb the mountain.

He knows he can beat Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal and he seems to be able to control his emotions better than he did when he first burst onto the scene.

He's matured so much this season it's been incredible.

And as he moves closer to becoming a complete tennis player, it's hard not to let yourself dream of having a British player winning Wimbledon.

I know I may be proved wrong, but I feel Murray has the tools to succeed where others have fallen.
